The fourth volume of Sammy Harkham's "Kramers Ergot" anthology series debuted in the summer of 2003.
Brick-like, the book featured full-color artwork on heavy, uncoated stock, wrapped in a memorable
crayon drawing by Mat Brinkman. Kramers Ergot 4 traced the currently blurring aesthetic line
between the mini-comic and the gallery wall, and provided a hospitable context for artists
accustomed to solitary negotiations within the constraints of hand-made comics.
Kramers Ergot 5 is due in the fall of 2004 from Gingko Press. Harkham has lent Indy Magazine
Chris "C.F." Forgues' full-color cover and eight interior pages by Gabrielle Bell, Marc Bell,
Kevin Huizenga, Ben Jones, Gary Panter, Elvis Studios (Helge Reumann and Xavier Robel), and
Dan Zettwoch. |
