Have you ever regretted running into an "ex"? This Xeric Award-winning graphic novel chronicles just that. Poor Ingrid is riding home on her bike from her new job. From the corner of her eye she spots her ex-boyfriend Mark waiting for the bus. She stops to say 'Hello". Awkward plans to meet for drinks ensue, thus beginning an orgy of lies, drugs, alcohol, sexual frustration, and gobs of guilt. Beautifully illustrated in meticulous pen and ink crosshatched realsim.

Karl Stevens was born on November 21, 1978, in Concord, Massachusetts. He spent the best parts of his youth studying comics and Michelangelo in hopes of becoming a great artist. After graduating high school he decided to attend Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts, to help futher this passion. A semester was spent and Karl decided to move back home and self publish his own comics. The Natural Selection, a three-part series, was the result of this. A couple years passed and Karl became restless and decided to stop publising to give school another chance. The Art Institute of Boston was the next stop. There Karl became serious about the old masters of western paintin, obsessively studying Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Titian, and Gainesborough to the point of boring his girlfriends and alienating his peers. His love of the comics medium never waned during this but only intensified. He became bent on marrying this rich history of European and American visual art and literature with comics. In 2003 he started working on Guilty, a fictional story about his experiences thus far in Boston. He recieved a grant from The Xeric Foundation in 2004 to publish it. He still lives in Boston, where he spends his time making comics, painting, seeing movies, going to museums, reading, and killing brain cells with his buddies.
